Family & Individual Counseling
The Counseling Program of Catholic Social Services of Summit County is designed to provide therapeutic counseling and related mental health services to families and their members, focusing on, but not limited to children, teens, elderly, couples, and those affected by divorce, violence, abuse, and neglect. Services are provided by experienced and licensed counselors specifically attuned to and able to meet the demands and challenges of multi-problem families and their vulnerable members.
Our approach is family centered and value based, beginning with the identification of needs at all levels, i.e. food, shelter, social, environmental, emotional, psychological, spiritual. Focus is on removing emotional and psychological barriers: achieving goals; utilizing client strengths; and producing positive changes as quickly and as possible.
The Counseling Program of Catholic Social Services of Summit County helps individuals of all ages and families to improve their life circumstances in relation to, but not limited to, the following areas of concern:
- Preservation, rehabilitation, or reunification of families
- Prevention, resolution of abuse or neglect of children, adolescents, and adults
- Alleviation of emotional distress and improvement of coping skills in relation to stress, loss, grief, anger, depression, etc., and to other problems in living that interfere with adequate daily functioning.
- Diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric dysfunction including but not limited to mental illness, personality disorders, behavioral disorders, etc.
