About Us

In 1920, Catholic Social Services of Summit County was founded, incorporated and had as its mission and purpose “to strengthen family life and to meet basic survival needs of the poor, homeless, unemployed, and orphans”. Today, as a non-profit, board governed agency, we remain faithful to our original purpose and mission through the provision of a continuum of integrated, comprehensive and collaborative family support and development services that reflect a strength based model of service provision and address the support, development and enrichment needs of families and their members.

The agency provides a continuum of integrated, comprehensive support and development services that enhance family and individual functioning so that self-sufficiency and the highest quality of life circumstances are attained. Our focus is particularly on those lacking financial, social, or emotional resources necessary for viable participation in the community. We provide services to all residents of Summit County and some surrounding areas, regardless of religious affiliation.

The current priorities of the organization are as follows:

Serve all people in the life span from birth to the elderly with currently more emphasis on the early ages, and the developmental stages of children and young adults.
To serve and support families and individuals during times of crisis, short and long term need, and many different types of challenges and difficult transitions.
Emphasize the creation of environments where personal strengths can be nurtured to achieve self-sufficiency and long term independence.
Develop an integrated service delivery system that enables families and individuals to grow, develop, and attain a high level of stability.
